About a 45-minute drive from the villa lies the typical Ardennes village of Dinant, well-known to many tourists in the area. Dinant is also accessible by train, with two trains per hour from Graide station (about a 5-minute walk from the villa) and one train per hour on weekends. Dinant is characterized by the Meuse River running through the village and a large rock formation. The village has many restaurants and charming shops. Parking is generally sufficient.
Dinant also has a large Citadel (a kind of castle/monastery) that can be visited. The Citadel is located on one of the large rock formations and can be difficult to reach if you have mobility issues. However, the Citadel is definitely worth a visit, so make sure to allocate enough time for it.
In Dinant, you will also find the abbey and museum of the Leffe brewery. You can book a tour here and then enjoy a tasting session at the museum. Leffe has been brewed since 1240 and is available in many flavors. Note that if you want to visit Leffe, you should go to ‘Maison Leffe’ and follow the signs. The abbey still exists but is not open to the public.
