The Caves of Han are also highly recommended. This was the first UNESCO heritage site in Belgium and has hosted many generations of visitors (over 23 million in total!). The caves reflect the history of the area, and light and sound shows are organized in the beautiful (underground) environment. Parts of the cave are still being discovered, and scientific research is conducted in Archaeology, Geology, and Hydrology.
You can choose to ‘discover the cave,’ where you visit various halls in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a full tour of the cave, which takes 2 hours and covers different spots along the route. The light and sound show ‘Origin’ is part of the ‘discover the cave’ tour. Pay attention to where you need to get the tickets, as the reception at the park itself is closed during certain months, and you need to get the tickets in the village.
Next to the cave is a wildlife park that you can visit on foot or by safari jeep. The tour through the wildlife park offers beautiful views over the adjacent valley and adds an extra dimension to the visit.
