Bouillon is a beautiful city just a stone’s throw away from the villa (about a 15-minute drive). The city is located in a valley, and the drive there is already stunning. In the valley, the castle of Bouillon is situated on a large rock formation. When you walk through the castle, you have a beautiful view over the city and the Semois River that runs through Bouillon (about 75 meters above the Semois). The castle is a total of 340 meters long, and through a forecourt and an old drawbridge, you enter the castle itself. The castle has been mentioned in writings for over 1000 years, making it very old!
If you want to see more sights in Bouillon, you can purchase a Bouillon city pass, which gives you discounts at various tourist attractions. For example, you get a discount on entry to the castle, as well as the medieval experience you can have in Bouillon.
You can reach the castle by following the signs from the city and walking up the stairs. This is obviously not for people who have difficulty walking. However, the castle is also accessible for those with reduced mobility; you can drive the car up the hill and park next to the castle. From the parking lot, you are within a few minutes at the castle.
Bouillon is also accessible by train; from Graide station (about a 5-minute walk from the villa), there are two trains per hour, and on weekends, one train per hour.
